Vilnius University Hosts International Universities Forum

The European Higher Education Society (EAIR) Forum held its 31st forum at Vilnius University in Lithuania August 21-26, 2009. The theme for the forum was “Fighting for Harmony – students, society and the academy in tune”. It was attended by more than 250 delegates from Europe and beyond, with 6 delegates from Australia. More than 80 papers were presented. Two papers were awarded the Best Paper award and, interestingly, one of these was for a study of higher education in Australia ('The effect of research management policies on academic productivity;

Vilnius University was selected for this 31st EAIR forum in honour of Lithuania’s Millennium Year celebrations and the 430th anniversary of the founding of Vilnius University, the oldest university in North Eastern Europe. The aim of the forum was to seek a better future for higher education.
