Akvilina Cicėnaitė, a Lithuanian resident of Sydney, has won the first competition in Lithuania for young authors, organised by Alma Littera, one of the biggest publishing houses in Lithuania. Her recently published prize winning book "Niujorko respublika" ("New York republic") is set in Lithuania in the times when Lithuania's independence was being reestablished. Akvilina Cicėnaitė won the prize from a field of 26 contestants, many with writings of a high standard.
This is Akvilina's fifth book published by Alma Littera. Two of them are about Australia - "Kengūrų slėnio paslaptis" ("The secret of Kangaroo Valley") and "Raudonosios uolos prakeikimas" ("The curse of the red rock").

Congratulations, Akvilina!
