Lithuanian Priest at Historic Meeting

Msgr. Visvaldas Kulbokas, a Lithuanian priest in Vatican's diplomatic service, had the job of being Pope Francis' official translator at his historic meeting with Patriarch Kirill, Head of the Russian Orthodox Church, in Havana, Cuba, on February 12, 2016. This historic meeting was the first meeting ever of the Heads of the Catholic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church.
Msgr. Kulbokas, born in the Lithuanian port city Klaipėda, has been working in the Vatican's diplomatic service since 2012. Earlier he had already been the official translator between Pope Francis and Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaitė and Russia's President Vladimir Putin.
