Gareth Koch, Acclaimed Classical Guitarist, to tour with Luminesca

The Australian Cello and Guitar Duo, Luminesca, is to tour Australia from the end of August to the end of September 2007. Luminesca’s guitarist is the acclaimed Australian Lithuanian classical guitarist, Gareth Koch, and his partner is the well-known cellist, Trish O’Brien. Their guitar and cello duo presents a most attractive musical combination, which has drawn critical acclaim in Australia. They will perform in Sydney on September 9 at the Willoughby Civic Centre.
Gareth Koch studied at the Sydney Conservatorium, Royal Madrid Conservatorium and the Vienna Academy of Music. He has had an extensive performing career as a soloist, chamber musician and recording artist and has toured widely in Australia, America, Europe, South East Asia, Hong Kong and Japan. He is a founding member of Saffire - The Australian Guitar Quartet. Saffire’s debut album became a best seller in the Australian Classical Music charts and won an ARIA for best Classical Album in 2003.
Trish O.Brien is an outstanding cellist, who has performed extensively in Australia. In 1987 she was a winner of the ABC Young Performer of the Year and the 2MBS FM Young Performer of the Year. She was the Associate Principal with Sydney Symphony Orchestra in 1992-97.
