The end of last month saw a very successful week for Lithuanian sports, with Lithuanian sportsmen winning three gold medals and a bronze on the international arena. There has not been a week like this in Lithuanian sport!
On Sunday, 19 November, in the modern pentathlon championship in Guatemala, Lithuanians Edvinas Krungolcas and Andrejus Zadneprovskis won the Gold and the Bronze respectively. 33 year old Krungolcas has already been European champion in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and has won the Modern Pentathlon World Cup three times (in 2001, 2004 and 2005).

The following Saturday Žydrūnas Savickas again proved he is the strongest man in the world, by successfully defending his title in the International Federation of Strength Athletes (IFSA) Strongman 2006 World Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. Lithuania’s Vidas Blekaitis also almost won a medal, coming fourth.
That same Saturday, at the Aarhus International Gala 2006 in Denmark, Edita Daniūtė and Arūnas Bižokas came first in the International Dance Sport Federation (IDSF) World Amateur Standard championship. Edita and Arūnas belong to the "Sūkurys" club in Kaunas and are trained by Česlovas Norvaiša. Earlier they had won silver and bronze in world championships and had won three European vice champion medals.
