Vytautas Sirvydis
Famous Lithuanian heart surgeon, Professor Vytautas Sirvydis, has been elected as
President of the prestigious World Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons at the Society's
14th World Congress recently held in Beijing. Professor Sirvydis is the Head of the of
the Heart Surgery Centre at Santariškiai Clinics of Vilnius University.
At this meeting Vilnius was also selected for the Society's 15th World Congress to be held
in June 19-23, 2005. It is anticipated that well over a thousand of the world's leading
heart surgeons will come to Vilnius for the 15th Congress. For the right to hold this
Congress Vilnius had to compete with Moscow, St. Petersburg and Munich.
