Lithuanian Entrepreneur a World Leader in Mobile Communications

Lithuanian entrepreneur Ilja Lauras, founder and CEO of GetJar, has been included in the 2009 list of the “Top 40 most influential people in mobile communications” by Informa Telecoms & Media (IT&M), a leading international source of business intelligence for telecommunications.
Founded in 2005 in Lithuania, GetJar has become the world’s largest independent applications store for mobile communications. GetJar has already provided more than half a billion downloads for handsets and consumers in more than 200 countries from more than 45,000 mobile applications that it has available. It has been the first Lithuanian company to establish a branch in California’s Silicon Valley in the USA. GetJar has been working with many mobile applications developers around the world, Including Google maps for mobiles, Opera Mini web browser and many others. Rolf Assev, chief strategy officer of Opera Software, the company responsible for the Opera web browser, has stated that “Opera has been working with GetJar for several years and we are most impressed by their success”.
llja Lauras was born in Lithuania in 1976 and graduated in Economics from Vilnius University in 2001. A successful entrepreneur since 1999, he has already launched many projects in Lithuania and beyond, including Lithuania’s largest hotel reservations system.
